John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs that he wrote, many of them located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. A few took the road through Colorado after hearing Denver's popular tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its initial member in the year 2011. Denver is today the face of Colorado on the world stage. If you travel with me, you will meet people on the other end of the globe. As an example, you might meet someone from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time within small Folk Music groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the track to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized its potential when he first heard it. The song was recorded by the singer within a couple of days after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans at Washington D.C.
