John Denver is a popular artist and musician who has been able to touch many by his lyrics. A lot of them are based on Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's state anthems have inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular musicians who was a symbol of Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. And when someone asks you if you're from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles following a performance with a smaller folk groups. It was co-written and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the song, but Denver discovered that it was destined to become a smash hit when it was discovered that an earlier version.
